The Minnesota State Flower, the Showy Ladies Slipper, shows itself only one week each June. Found in the north woods, I have only seen them in bloom twice in my life—and both times growing alongside a highway. Of course, I just had to get out of the car and photograph them. And one time I even sat down in the road ditch to sketch a large cluster of them. This print is the culmination of my drawings and photos.
